Servicing Solutions Gives Back

The team at Servicing Solutions came through in a big way during our holiday fundraising efforts, and we’re excited to share the final results.

The teams in Irving, TX, and Orange, CA, each chose a local charity, both of which are focused on a crucial social issue…access to nutritious food for all.

The team in Orange selected Mary’s Kitchen, a place near and dear to our founder and CEO Louis Ochoa’s heart, and one that he and his companies have supported for years.

Mary’s Kitchen is a special place, and the story behind its start is nothing short of inspiring. In 1982, then 82-year old Mary McAnena encountered a homeless woman in Hart Park in Orange and decided to feed her. This single act of kindness led to Mary finding her true calling, and she embarked on her mission to help the less fortunate in any way possible.

For the next ten years, she opened her home (and her four burner stove) to volunteers, and it became the headquarters of an impressive local effort to feed the hungry. Mary’s Kitchen eventually moved into its own location, and has since served as a place of refuge for thousands of local homeless individuals and families. Mary passed away at the age of 100 in 2003, but her hard work and spirit live on. Today, Mary’s Kitchen is run by CEO Gloria Suess and sees an average of 2,000 people per day. Mary’s Kitchen’s visitors are treated with the utmost dignity, respect and compassion. Along with meals, they have an opportunity to shower and have clothing laundered.

The Servicing Solutions team in Orange was pleased to deliver a donation of$22,192.40 to support this wonderful community resource!

The Irving team selected the North Texas Food Bank, a critical resource for hungry children, seniors and families across a 13-county service area. This charity provides access to more than 190,000 meals each day. In fact, in their last fiscal year, it provided access to an incredible 72 million meals! With more than 800,000 people in North Texas facing hunger on a daily basis, the importance of organizations like this cannot be overstated.

The North Texas Food Bank reports that for every dollar donated, it is able to provide 3 meals. With a donation from the Irving team in the amount of $10,301, they were able to provide more than 30,000 meals for local men, women and children!

The staff and management of both amazing teams worked together to maximize their efforts. The proceeds of the breakfast carts were donated. 50/50 raffles were held. Employees even raised money for the opportunity to throw a pie in the boss’s face – all in the spirit of local charity. Great work to the Servicing Solutions teams!
